Update Regarding H-1B Exemptions

New regulations that took effect on May 5, 2005 make available 20,000 new H-1B visas to foreign workers with a minimum master's level degree from a US academic institution.  These are in addition to the Congressionally mandated annual cap of 65,000 H-1B visas.

The cap for 'regular' H-1B visas for FY 2005 was reached earlier, and new H-1B visas that cannot be exempted as described above are not available until the first day of FY 2006, which is October 1, 2005.
